A name is on your sign, your license and every parent's phone. Take five minutes to check it.
Easy to say and spell
Say it out loud. If a parent can't spell it after hearing it once, they won't find you online.
Nobody nearby uses it
Search the name with your city and check your state's business registry (Secretary of State) before you print anything.
Not a trademark
Search the U.S. trademark database for the main words. Big brands protect their names, even small ones.
The web address is free
Check the .com and the Facebook and Instagram names. Short and without dashes is best.
Room to grow
"Tiny Tots" is lovely until you add a school-age room. Pick a name that still fits in five years.
Parents like it

How do I choose a good daycare name?
Pick a name that is easy to say and spell, sounds warm to parents, and still fits if you grow or add older children. Say it out loud to a few parents, then check that no other business near you uses it and that the web address is free.
Do I need to register my daycare name?
Usually yes. Most owners register the name as a business (for example an LLC or a doing-business-as name) with their state or county, and the name also appears on your child care license. Rules differ by state, so check with your Secretary of State and your licensing agency before you print signs.
Can I use my own name in my daycare name?
Yes. Names like "Ms. Kim's Little Sprouts" feel personal and are common for home daycares. Type your first name in the generator to see ideas with your name in them.
Should my daycare name say daycare, preschool or learning center?
Use the word families search for. Home providers often use "Family Child Care" or "Home Daycare", centers use "Learning Center" or "Early Learning Academy", and programs for 3 to 5 year olds use "Preschool". Pick the program type in the generator and it chooses the ending for you.
Is this daycare name generator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and runs in your browser. What you type in the tool stays in your browser.
