Note: MyKidReports is not Procare and has no access to Procare’s systems. This is a practical guide for directors whose Procare app or software won’t load.
Parents are at the door, the tablet won’t load and you need to know: is Procare down, or is it just us? Here is how to check in a minute, how to run check-in safely while it’s out, and what to do if outages keep happening.
The short version
- Check your own connection first: open another website, or try the app on a phone using mobile data.
- Then check Procare: look for Procare’s official status or support page, and ask other directors if they can log in.
- While it’s down: switch to a paper sign-in sheet with times and signatures, and count every room by hand.
- Afterwards: enter the day’s attendance once it’s back, and keep the paper sheet with your records.
Is Procare down, or is it just your center?
- Open any other website on the same device. If nothing loads, the problem is your internet, not Procare.
- Try the Procare app on a phone using mobile data, not your center’s Wi-Fi.
- Search for Procare’s official status or support page to see if an outage has been posted.
- Ask another director or a local childcare group if they can log in right now.
- If it’s only you, restart the router and the tablet, then update the app.
What to do at the door while Procare is down
Use a paper sign-in sheet. Child’s name, time in, time out, and the adult’s signature. Your state may require a daily sign-in record with times, so keep the paper sheet.
Count every room by hand. Without the app you lose live room counts, so have each teacher write down headcounts at set times and check ratios.
Check pickup lists. Keep a printed list of authorized pickups at the front desk for days like this.
Tell parents once. One short text or email: check-in is on paper today, and daily reports will follow later.
Leave billing for later. Payments and invoices can wait until the system is back. Don’t take card details on paper.
If Procare goes down often
Keep a simple log: the date, how long it was out, and what it affected. If outages keep coming back, that log is what you show your account representative, and it’s what helps you decide whether to switch.
How check-in works with MyKidReports
At the door: parents tap Check in/out in the MyKidReports app and scan the QR code at the door.
At the kiosk: a QR code plus a 4-digit code keypad, so parents without the app can still check in.
In the rooms: staff use room tablets, and live room ratios alert you when a room goes over. See check-in →
Switch from Procare in 5–10 business days
You don’t rebuild anything by hand. Our team moves your rosters, billing history, attendance and parent contacts for free, trains your staff, and runs both systems side by side for a few days. MyKidReports is $0.99 per child per month with a flat rate of 49 cents per bank transaction. How to export your data and leave Procare →

Questions directors ask when Procare is down
Is Procare down right now?
We can’t see Procare’s systems. Check your own connection first, then look for Procare’s official status or support page and ask other directors.
What if the Procare app is down but the desktop works?
Use the device that works for check-in, and update the app on the others. If parents can’t check in on their phones, use the paper sheet at the door.
Do I need to keep the paper sign-in sheet?
Yes, keep it. Your state may require a daily sign-in record, and the paper sheet is that record for the day.
Can I switch software in the middle of the year?
Yes. Most centers move to MyKidReports in 5–10 business days, with a free data move and both systems running side by side. See how switching works →
More than check-in: help filling your center
